Wills and Trusts

At the end of a person’s life his or her assets are transferred to others.  Wills and Trusts allow you to decide who will receive your belongings.  Wills and trusts are not just for the wealthy; even those with few assets can benefit from estate planning.  Regardless of how much or how little money you may leave behind, there are many different types of trusts to suit your needs.

Wills and trusts can also be used to:

Provide financial security for loved ones
Plan for future estate taxes
Provide for disabled relatives

The attorneys at the Knight & Franz Law Firm, PLLC, are well versed in preparing Wills and trusts.  Contact us to speak to an attorney about your specific needs.

Guardianships

Guardianships can be established for people of any age who cannot care for themselves.  A “guardian of the person” is responsible for the care of an incapacitated person.  A “guardian of the estate” is charged with caring for an incapacitated person’s property.  Our lawyers are available to answer your questions and help you through the guardianship process.

Powers of Attorney

A power of attorney allows you to decide who will manage your affairs should you become incapacitated.  There are many decisions to make when drafting a power of attorney and the lawyers at the Knight & Franz Law Firm, PLLC, can help you make these decisions.

Living Wills (Directive to Physician) and Medical Powers of Attorney

Living wills and medical powers of attorney guide the medical care of an incapacitated person.  Because many people have concerns and specific religious beliefs when it comes to medical procedures, our attorneys can help you provide your loved ones with your directions should incapacity occur.

Probate and Estate Administration

After a person passes away, probate proceedings take place before the person’s assets are distributed.  The Knight & Franz Law Firm, PLLC, approaches probate matters with sensitivity and empathy.  The probate process can be confusing, but our attorneys are here to help in this time of need.

Pre and Post-Marital Agreements

Marital agreements allow spouses (or future spouses) to exchange or recharacterize property and to affect other aspects of the marital relationship.

Pre-marital agreements are executed prior to marriage, whereas post-marital agreements are executed after two people are married.  Particular rules govern the provisions of these documents and sometimes limit what can be accomplished through them.  The attorneys at the Knight & Franz Law Firm, PLLC, will draft and negotiate these documents for you
